Some 25 families including persons displaced by the Anglophone crisis have been left stranded after their abode in Ambas Bay, a neighbourhood in Limbe, Fako Division of the South West region was raised by fire over the weekend.
Days after the sad incident occurred, the victims are yet to come to terms with what happened, given that most of them have to start all over.
According to reports, the wooden structure with many rooms that played host to many families went up in flames before the eyes of its residence and only the prompt intervention of firefighting units in collaboration with the youths of the locality prevented the fire from spreading to nearby buildings.
Internally displaced persons who had taken refuge in the big wooden structure are for the second time stranded.
Even though the victims suffered a huge loss, the population in general have praised the swift response of the firefighters who were in their fifth mission since the unit went operational.
They are unanimous on the fact that if not for the prompt reaction, the losses incurred would have been more.
The source of the fire remains unknown though some of the victims attribute it to superstition.
