Former Nigerian President, Chief Professor Olusegun Obasanjo who arrived Cameroon last July 30 has praised the Information and Communication Technology, ICT University for the quality education offered by the institution to students across Africa.

He was speaking at the graduation ceremony of the 6th batch of ICT University that took place last Saturday July 31 on the school premises and was presided at by the Minister of State, Minister of Higher Education, Chancellor of academic honors, Prof Jaqcues Fame Ndongo.

Ahead of the graduation ceremony of the batch he was Godfather, Chief Olusegun Obasanjo who once served as chair of the African Union arrived Cameroon Friday July 30 and was received at the Yaounde Nsimalen International Airport by the Minister of External Relations, Lejeune Mbella Mbella on behalf of the Head of State.

Olusegun Obasanjo, aged 84 ruled Nigeria twice, first as a military ruler from 1976 to 1979 and later as a civilian leader from 1999 to 2007. He is well known by Cameroonians for his involvement in the resolution of the decades-long border dispute opposing Cameroon to Nigeria over the sovereignty of the Bakassi Peninsular from 1993 to 2006.

He had agreed to hand the narrow strip of land over to Cameroon by signing the Grentree agreement during talks led by the then UN Secretary General, Kofi Annan in the presence of four other States who acted as witnesses, including the United States, the Federal Republic of Germany, Great Britain and Northern Ireland’s United Kingdom and France.

On Sunday August 1, the former Nigerian States man who wrapped four lives into one as a soldier, a farmer, a President and now a preacher was guest on the flagship program, Cameroon calling over the National Station where he came back on the resolution of the Bakassi border conflict.

He stated clearly that: “Koffi Annan, Paul Biya and myself did not resolve the conflict for a noble peace prize, but for the good of our people…”
